Blessed be the work of hands. For Miami Art Week, GG Art Space presents The Hands They Carried: Juliana Bukowitz’s sculptural universe of clay, glaze, and grit. Brazilian-born, Miami-based, Bukowitz builds tactile assemblages that prize touch and time over spectacle: the sentinel ‘nvolvement (cover, p.1–2), the layered hues of Reefer (p.17), the charged topographies of Pothead (p.15-16), the coralline colonies of X-Reef (p.19), and the tidal relic Holy Sea (p.21). In a season leaning hard toward modernist gravitas, these works insist on material truth; the kind you feel in your palms first and parse later.
